Sunderland 1-2 Sheffield United- Match Report & Player Ratings

Report
Sheffield United came back from behind to beat The Black Cats, thanks to yet another questionable refereeing decision.
Sunderland had the first opportunity of the gale, when Patrick Roberts set up Trai Hume, who’s powerful shot was well saved by Foderingham.
Sunderland took the lead after half-an-hour after a really intelligent run by Edouard Michut was picked out by Abdoullah Ba, and Michut finished brilliantly to get his first goal for the club.
The Blades’ equalised just before half time thanks to George Baldock easily finding Daniel Jebbison in the area, and he was able to curl the ball past Patterson and into the corner.
15 minutes into the second-half, Sheffield United took the lead through a Tommy Doyle free-kick, but it should not have counted.
Doyle crossed the ball in, and it missed everyone and found its way into the net, but Sander Berge was in an offside position, and he attempted to play the ball which clearly put Patterson off.
Moments later, Sunderland almost equalised through Patrick Roberts, who cut inside and curled in a wonderful shot that just struck the outside of the post.
Sheffield United were able to deal with the pressure from Sunderland and they were awarded all 3 points.
Sunderland now sit in 12th, and surely their play-off push is now over as they are now 8 points behind Millwall in 6th.
Player Ratings
Anthony Patterson – 6
Made a few really good saves, however he really needs to work on his kicking if he is to push on.
Trai Hume – 6
Not a bad performance, got stuck in and gave his all.
Dan Ballard – 6
Caught out a couple of times, but still put in a decent shift.
Danny Batth – 6
Did OK, could have maybe done more to prevent their equaliser.
Luke O’Nien – 7
Defended really well and helped us push up the pitch at times, hopefully he is OK.

Mixed bag, pickpocketed a couple times, but he also had some really nice and tidy moments on the ball.
Edouard Michut – 7
Great goal and got himself about a lot throughout.
Abdoullah Ba – 6
Brilliant pick out for the goal, quiet at times but did quite well whenever he was involved.
Jack Clarke – 6
Really struggled to get past his man.
Patrick Roberts – 7
Looked like our most dangerous player throughout, he was so unlucky not to equalise when he hit the post.
Joe Gelhardt – 6
Never looked like scoring, but he did come deep and link up play really well at times.
