Sunderland Guide: Roker Beach

Sunderland Guide Home

Location: On Sunderland’s seafront, Marine Walk. Accessible by Pier View

Roker beach is one of the finest beaches in Britain. With golden sand, beautiful blue water, rugged cliffs and the immense scenic view of its historic Pier, it may not be the warmest place all year round, but it certainly is one of the most visually appealing and relaxing.

Roker Beach offers an outstanding location for a classic “day out at the beach” and is ideal for families. It is clean, safe and thanks to its accompanying promenade, has an increasing number of high quality facilities in the form of cafes, restaurants and takeaways.

Accessible from the beach is also the Victorian era Roker Park. When the tide is out, it is possible to walk all the way along from Roker Beach onto the neighbouring beach resort of Seaburn, which should also be part of your itinerary when visiting. Sunderland’s seafront above all is undoubtedly one of its strongest assets, and you should not miss out on this.
