Sunderland ranked the most affordable place in England (12th in the UK) to live

The City of Sunderland has been ranked as the most affordable place in England, 12th in the UK overall, to live.

A recent study by Hopkins Homes, a real estate and zero energy bill expert, ranked 325 places in the UK based on their average house prices, comparing it to average earnings and council tax to give it an affordability score.

The top 11 destinations were all in Scotland, with Sunderland coming in as the first English result.

The results were featured on the Sky News Money Blog.

To nobody’s surprise, the least affordable areas to live in the UK were all in London and its surrounding counties, with Kensington and Chelsea ranking number one.
