Sunderland VS Brentford – Match Preview & Prediction

Sunderland return to the Stadium of Light to face Keith Andrews’ Brentford, as they look to bounce back following a disappointment defeat against Burnley last time out.

The Black Cats hoped to build on their emphatic 3-0 opening day win against West Ham United, when they came to face Burnley, but it didn’t go to plan.

It was a poor performance after the standards that were sat on the opening game, and fellow newcomers, Burnley came out 2-0 winners.

However, it is another winnable game for Sunderland against Brentford, who have struggled so far in this transfer window, losing their manager, Thomas Frank to Spurs, and key players Bryan Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa.

Wissa hasn’t actually left the club as of yet, but he is doing an Isak, and refusing to play as he tries to push a move to Newcastle.

It will be the first time the 2 sides have faced each other in the Premier League, with their last match coming in the Championship, back in 2018, as The Bees came out 0-2 winners at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats haven’t actually beaten Brentford since 1988, a run of 3 defeats and 2 draws.

Forner Sunderland star, Jordan Henderson could be set to face his boyhood club this afternoon, after swapping Ajax for Brentford this summer.

Team News

Dan Ballard has been ruled out for three weeks and will miss the fixture, but Régis Le Bris has confirmed that the rest of his squad are available.
