The Black Cats’ are set to host QPR at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, and Sunderland will be hoping to stay unbeaten at the start of the season.

Sunderland new boy Ellis Simms impressed last time out, scoring in the first 4 minutes of his debut against Bristol City, before scoring another in the second half as the Black Cats’ came out on top 3-2.

The Black Cats’ young boys were defeated convincingly on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup by Sheffield Wednesday 2-0, in a game that looked like Sunderland didn’t have much desire to win.

QPR had a scare last week as they went 3-0 against Middlesbrough in the first half, and they just managed to win 3-2 as The Boro nearly fought back.

Rangers’ themselves got beat by Charlton in the cup on Tuesday, after a 1-1 draw, the game went to penalties and Charlton won 5-3.

Sunderland will need to be weary of Chris Willock who scored a magnificent solo goal against The Boro last week. Former Sunderland loanee Jimmy Dinner also got on the score sheet.

The last league meeting between the 2 sides ended in a 1-0 win for QPR back in 2018 thanks to a goal from Eberechi Eze.
