Sunderland VS Shrewsbury Town – Match Preview

Preview

The Black Cats’ host Shrewsbury Town at the Stadium of Light on Good Friday.

Alex Neil’s side secured a vital victory against play-off rivals Oxford City last week after another last minute winner by Elliot Embleton.

They seem to have steadied the ship after Alex Neil’s arrival as they have only lost 1 game in their last 10 and won 4 of their last 5 in this crucial part of the season.

Sunderland will be hoping that they can make some ground in the play-off race with another victory.

Shrewsbury have been in decent form themselves, winning 3 of their last 5 games, including an impressive 3-0 win against promotion chasers Rotherham United.

The Shrews currently sit 16th in the table, 11 points clear of relegation, so you could say they are arguably playing for nothing as we reach the end of the season.

This will be by no means an easy game for the Black Cats’ but they are clear favourites in this one.

Team News

Alex Neil has said that Alex Pritchard should be back in the squad after missing out last week with a calf injury.

Leon Dajaku has gone back to Germany due to an illness he can’t shake off. He was originally diagnosed with tonsillitis, but he has gone back to his home country for further tests.

After 2 impressive substitite appearances, Elliot Embleton could return to the starting 11.

Prediction

Score – 2-0
