Sunderland VS Swansea – Match Preview & Prediction

The Lads return home for the first time in 2023, as they look to make it 5 games unbeaten against Swansea City.

Sunderland could move as high as 4th with a victory and the visitors will be hoping to move as high at 10th as they hope to get closer to the play-offs.

Swansea currently sit 15th but they are only 3 points behind the Black Cats despite being 7 places lower in the table.

The Swans have been struggling with form lately, winning just 1 of their last 5 games, that win being an impressive 4-0 victory over Watford last month.

Sunderland are unbeaten in their last 4 (5 including FA Cup) and they won last time out at the Stadium of Light against Blackburn on Boxing Day thanks to a last minute goal by Ellis Simms, who has recently returned to his parent club, Everton.

Ross Stewart has been in the news lately regarding his contract, but he will be focusing on keeping his 100% scoring record since returning from his injury.

Sunderland have lost their last three games against The Swans, their last win coming in 2016 thanks to a Defoe hat-trick as Sunderland came out 2-4 winners at the Liberty Stadium.

Danny Batth will be back in the squad and Lynden Gooch could make his return from injury.

Alex Pritchard, Dennis Cirkin and Aji Alese all remain out.
