Twice Convicted Roker Paedophile Snared Again After Believing He Was Meeting a 14 year old girl

An already convicted paedophile from Roker was snared by online vigilantes after going to meet what he believed was a 14 year old girl at Sunderland Railway Station.

John Vanstone, 63, of Rippon Street, sent sexual explicit and inappropriate messages to the account known as “Megan” this February and offered to meet her with the premise of taking her home, asking her if she wanted to “learn” to have sex.

Vanstone has previous convictions for indecent images and “extreme pornography”, having been convicted in 2012 and then again in 2018, where he was sentenced to 30 months in prison. After leaving prison, he then breached his sexual harm prevention order and was sent back in 2020.

John claims that he is “trying to sort himself out”. Upon pleading guilty to the latest offense, he was sentenced again to three years and three months in Prison
