Police this morning were investigating human remains washed up on Roker Beach this morning, a family has confirmed to SGM.
After posting a photo of police investigating on the beach, comments on the SGM page facebook responded with ridicule, which upset the family in question, and after comments were disabled they asked to condemn this behaviour.
The family had confirmed privately that the remains are “highly likely” to be of their son who sadly taken his own life on the bridge and who’s body was never found in the aftermath.
Having been contacted by the authorities, a DNA testing of the remains is underway.
Northumbria Police, however, declined to comment immediately on the findings this morning and instead simply referred to a report of “suspicious activity.”
It is expected a statement and formal identification will follow later.
