Visitors to Sunderland increase from pre-pandemic levels with Concerts

Visitor numbers into the City of Sunderland have increased past pre-pandemic levels.

According to data collected by NGI, arrivals into Sunderland increased by 4% from 2019’s numbers.

This is higher than numbers for the North East as a whole, which continue to be below pre-pandemic levels.

It is believed the return of concerts to the city have been a decisive factor, including Beyonce, Elton John and Bruce Springsteen.

The North East remains, however, the least visited region of the United Kingdom, being 45 times behind that of London’s numbers.
