An 18-year-old from Washington who left his girlfriend bruised and bleeding has avoided prison.
🔹 Dillan Barnes, of Glebe, attacked the victim by kicking and biting her, later producing a knife when she tried to leave.
🔹 She told Newcastle Crown Court she felt like a “hostage” in his house and feared for her life.
🔹 Days later, Barnes sent chilling threats including “you are going to die” and “you are all getting burned out” alongside a fire emoji.
Barnes admitted assault, threatening with a bladed article, and threatening to destroy property.
Judge Richard Stubbs said Barnes had “a good prospect of rehabilitation” and handed him a six-month suspended sentence, plus:
▪️ 18-month supervision
▪️ 180 hours unpaid work
▪️ Five-year restraining order
