West Bromwich Albion 0-1 Sunderland – Match Report

Trai Hume scores a wonderful goal for the 2nd week in a row, as Sunderland begin to build up some momentum going into the final 6 matches of the season.

The Black Cats have all but guaranteed play-offs as they have now gone 18 points clear of West Brom in 7th place.

After Leeds dropped points as well, Sunderland are now 8 points away from the top 2, with 18 points still to play for.

West Brom lost their 2nd match in succession, seeing them now 2 points behind Coventry in 6th.

The match was a scrappy affair, with the home side racking up 23 shots, but only actually testing Patterson 3 times.

Trai Hume opened the scoring with a wonderful free-kick out wide on the left-hand side corner of the box, which caught our the ‘keeper with its power, and found its way into the back of the net.

The second-half was dominated by WBA, but Sunderland put their bodies on the line with every shot and were able to keep them out and keep the clean sheet.

Patterson was only really forced into one big save, coming with around 10 minutes left, as Kyle Bartley headed from 8-yatds out, but Patterson saved well and pushed the ball way from danger.

Next up for Sunderland is Norwich City away on Tuesday night, as they look to maybe close the gap on the top 2, who knows? It’s still possible.
