This busy Sunderland Road is set to experience heavy delays as five-day roadworks start Sunday

One of Sunderland’s busiest roads is set to become increasingly congested as a five day period of maintenance work is set to begin from Sunday.

The A690 at Herrington, following the A19 roundabout, is set to experience a lane closure as maintenance takes place on painting road lines and other cleaning tasks get underway.

The roadworks are starting from 7am on Sunday morning and will last through to Thursday.
