Repeat Paedophile Cricket Coach to be sentenced for child sex abuse offenses for a sixth time

A former North East Cricket coach is set to be sentenced for child sex offenses for the 6th time in relation to a long lasting history of abuse he carried out on young men he worked with in the 1980s and 1990s.

Michael Strange, now 64, has already received multiple prison sentences starting from 2012 after his former players, who were as young as 12, later came forward to disclose that he sexually abused them.

He had worked for Bill Quay Cricket Club as a coach and Durham County Cricket Club as a scout, where he abused his position to sexually assault young boys.

After his first prison sentence finished in 2016, he was then accused of abusing a 15 year old boy in 2003, landing him with a 2nd prison sentence.

After that, in 2020, he was then convicted a 3rd time of abusing a young man and sent to jail again. Then in 2022, more victims came forward, leading to his fourth sentence.

Then in 2023, he was convicted again a 5th time for sexually abusing a young boy in the 1990s.

This summer, he pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent assault on two males and will be sentenced for a 6th time on Tuesday, September 16th.

The judge has recommended he confess to any other abuse he may have committed.
