Newcastle City council looking to ban people from parking in streets around the Airport by imposing Red Lines

Newcastle City Council is preparing to ban people from parking on streets around the area of the airport in Ponteland.

Since the airport introduced a £4 drop off fee, parking and drop offs in streets around the airport have surged as people scramble to avoid the toll seen as excessive.

But now, the council want to clamp down on this, which it has described as “illegal, inconsiderate and dangerous”, thus in consultation with Northumberland County Council, they are seeking to make a “red area,”

Locals, however, are objecting to this arguing it will drive the parking and drop offs further outwards and spill into local neighbourhoods nearby in Prestwick.
