Teen Designer Goods Thief Back in Court After New Shoplifting Offence

A 19-year-old woman notorious for a string of high-value shoplifting offences has been caught stealing again in Newcastle city centre, just three months after her last conviction.

Nikki McMahon, of Church Walk House in Walker, previously stole over £7,000 worth of designer items from shops in Newcastle and Gateshead, for which she was handed two separate conditional discharges in 2024.

Despite the leniency of the courts, McMahon was soon back offending. In her latest incident, she and another woman stole £450 worth of makeup and handbags from TK Maxx in Newcastle.

She pleaded guilty to the theft at a hearing in February, but failed to appear for sentencing last week, prompting a warrant for her arrest. She has since appeared in custody at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court, where her case was adjourned again pending a pre-sentence report.

The court is expected to decide on a sentence in the coming weeks.
