Washington Halfords manager banned from driving after kids seen hanging out of car window
A Halfords project manager from Washington has been banned from driving for a year after allowing three children to hang out of her car windows without seatbelts.
Lyndsey Dargon, 39, was seen driving dangerously along her home street, Boston Avenue, Washington Village, on June 4. A concerned neighbour reported the incident, which was caught on CCTV.
South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court heard Dargon admitted the children were not restrained and accepted full responsibility. She pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.
The court was told Dargon’s driving was limited to a short distance, but District Judge Zoe Passfield stressed that the incident could have had serious consequences. Alongside the ban, Dargon was fined over £1,700.
Dargon has informed her employer and will lose her job, which required her to drive. Her defence said she was remorseful and had no prior offences in 20 years of driving.
