Washington cocaine addict caught stealing razor blades at Asda in the Galleries

A 63-year-old crack cocaine user has admitted trying to steal two packs of razors from Asda at The Galleries, Washington.

🕐 At around 1.10pm on Sunday, August 17, Lynne Campion, of Park Avenue, Concord, was spotted by a security guard slipping the £23.46 worth of blades into her bag.

⚖️ She was stopped before she could leave the store. Although the items were recovered, they had been damaged and couldn’t be resold.

Campion – who has 26 previous convictions from 52 offences – gave no answers when quizzed by police.

Her solicitor told South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court she has struggled since a recent prison term, often sofa-surfing and turning to crack cocaine after avoiding heroin.

👩‍⚖️ District Judge Zoe Passfield adjourned the case so Campion can be assessed for a drug treatment programme. She will be sentenced on Thursday, November 13.
