Millfield woman avoids conviction after complaints over “excessive noise” and being a nuisance to neighbours

A 51-year-old woman from Millfield has been given an absolute discharge after being accused of breaching a Community Protection Notice for making excessive noise inside and outside her home.

Kelly Bewick was recorded shouting on Hawthorn Street and creating loud noise on two separate dates, despite a warning order meant to prevent harassment or nuisance to neighbours.

In court, Bewick said she had faced 11 years of harassment and provocation from neighbours and provided documents supporting her claims. Magistrates accepted her mitigation and ruled that nothing would be recorded against her.

  • Guilty plea to breaching a CPN
  • Absolute discharge
  • No fine, no court costs, no surcharge

Magistrates said the evidence showed she “should not be further punished.”
