Job Title: Kaizen Apprentice

Location: Sunderland (Nissan Sunderland Plant SR5 3NS + local college sites)
Contract Type: Apprenticeship (Full-time)
Duration: 2 years
Hours: 39 per week
Starting Salary: £17,400.58 per year
Closing Date: 15 February 2026
Role Overview:
- Focus on Kaizen (continuous improvement) within production and manufacturing
- Split time between college-based learning and hands-on work in a manufacturing plant
- Work alongside Production, Engineering and Maintenance teams
- Contribute to improvements in production environments and processes
- Use lean manufacturing tools and Kaizen methodology
- Support projects ranging from basic repairs to innovative improvement solutions
Entry Requirements:
- 4 GCSEs or equivalent (achieved or predicted):
- Maths (Grade A–C / 5+)
- English Language or Literature (Grade A–C / 4+)
- Two additional subjects (Grade A–C / 4+)
- At least 1 year post-16 education or experience in engineering/welding
- Aged 16+ at start of apprenticeship
- Eligible to work in the UK with 3+ years UK residency by Sept 2026
- Ability to commute to Sunderland plant and college sites
Qualification Gained:
- Level 2 Engineering Operative qualification (subject to performance)
