‘Please Send Police’: Man Jailed After Terrifying Petrol Station Attack

Shaun Peckover has been jailed for 22 months after leaving two victims injured in a late-night assault outside an Acklam Road petrol station.

A woman feared for her life as she repeatedly begged for help during a violent petrol station attack.

Shaun Peckover left her injured in the road before attacking a second victim. CCTV captured the shocking assault.

Teesside Crown Court heard the woman called 999 in the early hours of March 15. The attack happened outside EG Garage on Acklam Road, Middlesbrough.

During the emergency call, she repeatedly begged police to attend. She told operators she believed her life was in danger.

Prosecutor Uzma Khan told the court the woman said Peckover kicked her in the leg and head. She also said he struck her in the face.

The attack continued while she stayed on the phone. The court heard Peckover then turned his attention to another man.

The woman told the operator she feared Peckover would kill him. She said the victim struggled to breathe.

Officers arrived with blue lights flashing. They found the male victim lying in the road, distressed and covered in blood.

The victim later told police that Peckover punched him in the head. The blow knocked him to the ground, but Peckover continued the attack.

The court watched CCTV footage of the assault.

The male victim suffered cuts and bruises across his body. The female victim suffered redness and bruising around her left eye.

Doctors did not confirm a suspected broken rib reported after the attack.

Judge Taryn Turner described the assault as serious. She said it caused “significant fear and distress”.

Peckover, of Levick Crescent, Middlesbrough, appeared at Teesside Crown Court through a video link from HMP Holme House.

He received a 22-month prison sentence on his 37th birthday after admitting one count of affray.

The court heard Peckover has 47 previous convictions for 74 offences. His record includes assaults on emergency workers.

Defending Peckover, Nicci Horton said he accepted he had consumed alcohol before the attack. She added that he had asked for help with his alcohol addiction.
