Durham Road Nursery Apologises after gate is left open and toddlers were allowed to escape

A Sunderland Nursery based on the Durham road has apologised after its front gate was accidentally left open and two young children were able to escape.

The Apple Blossom Day Nursery, based at the bottom of Bede Bank adjacent to the Durham Road, was subject to parental outrage yesterday after two of its children were found on the street next to the road and returned to the premises.

In an official apology, the institution said that it has been conducting an investigation and reported the incident to the Local Authority Childcare team, and that it was “fully transparent” and open with the details.

In response, the parents one of the affected children have withdrawn their child from the nursery immediately.
