EXCLUSIVE: Deal Secured to Bring Back Crowtree
A deal has been secured between the council and private investors to fully restore Crowtree Leisure Centre, SGM can exclusively reveal
The £86 million agreement will see the original facility recreated in a state of the art deal, including the swimming pool, diving pool, tennis courts and a child’s play area.
The investment is being led by Chinese capital firm Ah Pi Fu holdings in a joint venture with local businessman Neil “Macka” McKnight who has relentlessly campaigned to bring back the former leisure centre.
A council representative heralded the deal, telling SGM in a statement:
“We are proud to announce the return of Crowtree Leisure centre in this landmark deal. Following its closure due to government funding cuts, local residents have insisted on its return.
This is an enormous deal which will contribute to the restoration of our city centre and bring back what was wrongly taken away”
