Help fill the Sunderland Community Foodbank by bringing one item to donate at the West Brom Game

A Sunderland Community Foodbank and Soup Kitchen is asking if every SAFC supporter can bring one item of spare food to donate on the day of the home game against West Brom.

Opening a donation booth next to the A Love Supreme (ALS) building, the Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen urges fans to bring whatever they can on December 9th when the lads host West Bromwich Albion and donate it in the hours running up to the game (1pm-3pm).

The type of foods they are seeking the most are tinned ones which can be preserved and readily distributed, such as for example tins of vegetables, or a tinned curry, or on the other hand easily preserved dry foods such as pasta, noodles, macaroni, etc.

Remember, during this coming Christmas period some people will be hungry and struggling with the costs of living. The surge in inflation and power bills has imposed many hardships on local people, especially pensioners, with a rise in “Fuel Poverty.”

At start of this year a Channel 4 documentary attracted a lot of attention after it depicted a lonely former shipbuilder in Pallion who lived in the dark and did not cook because he felt he could not afford it. The Soup Kitchen is thus asking if every fan can spare one item, the impact the single game can make on their work will be miraculous.
