Lunchtime Supervisory Assistant – Mill Hill Nursery School

Location: Mill Hill Nursery School, Torphin Hill Drive, Doxford Park, Sunderland SR3 2PJ
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 10 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks)
Salary: Grade 1 – £24,796 to £25,185 pro rata
Closing Date: 13 February 2026 (midday)
Role Overview
- Supervise children during the lunchtime period
- Support children while eating in the dining area and during playtime
- Promote safety, welfare, and positive behaviour
- Engage children in suitable activities during breaks
- Work as part of a wider school team following guidance from teaching staff
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise pupils during lunch and outdoor/indoor play
- Ensure children’s safety at all times
- Encourage good conduct and positive social interaction
- Respond appropriately to children’s needs
- Follow school policies and staff instructions
- Support safeguarding and child protection procedures
Essential Requirements
- Ability to listen to and communicate effectively with young children
- Calm, caring, and responsible approach
- Willingness to follow instructions and school procedures
- Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
Safeguarding & Compliance
- Enhanced DBS check required
- Pre-occupational health check
- Disqualification by Association Declaration
