OPERATIONS COORDINATOR
Employer: Northern Trains
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £24,786 rising to £29,159 after training
Hours: 35 per week
Contract: Permanent (On-Site)
Closing Date: 8 March 2026
ROLE OVERVIEW
• Support the Station Co-ordinator managing traincrew and unit movements at Newcastle
• Coordinate closely with Operations Control to minimise disruption
• Liaise with Network Rail signallers and other operators regarding platforming and unit swaps
• Report unit defects and check availability with Heaton TrainCare Centre
• Work proactively to reduce delays and cancellations
• Issue, collect and account for mobile ticketing machines
• Carry out balancing, banking and associated accountancy tasks
• Order ticket stock and maintain strong office security
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and policies
ABOUT YOU
• Calm under pressure with strong decision-making skills
• Confident communicator with good numeracy skills
• Comfortable using IT systems and accountancy software
• Able to prioritise in a fast-paced operational environment
• Experience in rail or operational environments desirable
• Strong focus on safety and teamwork
