About The Role
Social Care Recruiting is recruiting a permanent, part-time Personal Assistant / Support Worker to support a young man in Newcastle upon Tyne who is rebuilding his independence following an acquired brain injury.
The role currently involves three morning shifts each week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 to 13:00. Weekend availability may become available as the role develops, making the position suitable for someone looking to combine it with other work, study or a second PA role.
The successful applicant will provide practical and personal support with the client’s morning routine, budgeting, meal planning, shopping and general day-to-day administration. They will also provide encouragement and motivation and support the client with work-readiness as he works towards finding employment in the future.
The Personal Assistant will work alongside the client’s wider rehabilitation team, which includes an occupational therapist, psychologist and case manager. A patient, encouraging and non-judgmental approach is important, particularly as the client may take time to build trust and has limited insight into how his impairments affect daily life.
Previous experience supporting someone with a brain injury would be useful, but it is not essential because full training is provided.
The role pays £15 per hour on weekdays, £16 per hour at weekends and £30 per hour on bank holidays. Paid training and 5.6 weeks’ annual leave pro rata are also offered.
An enhanced criminal record check will be conducted as part of the employer’s SAFE recruitment process.
