Man appeals for footage after being robbed at knifepoint in Roker

A man is appealing for footage after he stated he was robbed at knifepoint on a Roker street.

The man, who has asked to be revealed publicly as Jamie Young, has issued the following statement: “I was mugged at knife point on Saturday 4th May between 22:35 – 22:50 at the junction of Stansfield Street/Coniscliffe Place onto Selbourne Street in Sunderland. Recent footage shows that he ran into Ripon Street towards Roker Avenue after the attack.

All he took was my wallet and AirPod case. All cards have been cancelled and unfortunately I cannot track my AirPod case. I was fortunately left unharmed.

It was a male, approximately 5 foot 9” tall, wearing a silver padded coat with a furry hood and white/grey trousers. Unfortunately it happened so fast and I didn’t see any more than that.

Any footage from the named streets, including Ripon Street and Roker Avenue would be of great help.

Please contact me as soon as possible with any information. Police have been informed and an investigation is underway.

Also, a huge thank you to the couple on Stansfield Street (unfortunately I can’t remember their names) who came out to help me after and spoke to my dad and the police. Their help was greatly appreciated as they stayed with me until my dad arrived and took me home.”
