Northern Lights alert issued for tonight

The Met Office has issued a Northern Lights alert for Monday night.

The latest space weather forecast predicts that aurora activity could increase following a coronal mass ejection that left the sun on Saturday.

While this period is expected to coincide with daylight hours in the UK, experts have said that “lingering effects” are likely to persist into Monday night and early Tuesday morning – coinciding with a favourable forecast of clear skies across the North East.
