Paramedic struck off after having sex with “vulnerable patient” during 999 callout
🟢 A paramedic has been struck off after admitting to having sex with a vulnerable patient during an emergency callout.
Ian T Neale, who worked for Yorkshire Ambulance Service, responded alone to a 999 call at the woman’s home on 24 October 2020. He later confessed in a police interview that the encounter was consensual. Though acquitted of a criminal sexual offence at trial in 2023, a tribunal found the misconduct “fundamentally incompatible with registration as a health professional.”
The panel noted that Mr Neale was aware of the patient’s vulnerability and had breached both trust policy and professional standards.
He was arrested after a follow-up ambulance crew reported concerns. The tribunal concluded there had been no real effort to remedy the misconduct and that striking off was the only proportionate response.
