Parcel and Package theft from doorsteps being reported around Castletown

Residents in Castletown and the surrounding areas are being warned to develop safer ways to receive parcels following multiple reports of doorstep theft.

A Castletown resident reported that a recent parcel they ordered was stolen from their doorstep this afternoon, and that it is not the first time such an incident has occurred, with previous parcels having also been stolen, as well as cat food.

In order to avoid this, residents should seek to create safe and hidden spots so that parcels can be placed carefully (as instructed) in out of public view, deterring thieves.

Or, if you cannot do that and you cannot be at home, make alternative arrangements with neighbours you trust.

It is tremendously easy to swoop in and take something from a doorstep without arousing suspicion.

As Christmas comes and people’s deliveries intensify, thieves will target parcels so they can both sell goods and pass them off as presents themselves.
