Roker Pier to remain closed for another year, council confirm

Roker Pier is to remain closed for another year, Sunderland City Council have confirmed.

The Pier was significantly damaged following Storm Babet in 2023, causing £250,000 worth of damage.

However, the council stated to the BBC that the “amount of specialist repairs” and a need for “optimum weather and sea conditions” meant it was unlikely the work would be finished before early 2025.
