Rolls Royce announces 2500 job cuts nationwide, sparking fears in Sunderland
Aviation and engineering giant Rolls Royce has announced it will be cutting 2500 jobs in the United Kingdom, sparking fears over its Washington plant
As global consumption has slumped with a struggling economy and soaring inflation, the company has stated its current performance has been “unsustainable” and is seeking to restructure its business and cut corners.
It is unknown however, exactly where those job losses will be, as the firm employees 42,000 people nationwide.
A Company spokesman said: “We are building a Rolls-Royce that is fit for the future.
“Our business is full of committed, talented people and I believe these changes will enable them to build greater capability in areas that are key to our long-term success.
“This is another step on our multi-year transformation journey to build a high performing, competitive, resilient and growing Rolls-Royce.”
The new boss had been expected to reveal a significant shake-up involving job cuts after describing Rolls-Royce’s performance as “unsustainable” earlier this year.
