Senegal Man sends over 50 emails to SGM applying to be a footballer at Sunderland A.F.C.

A man from Senegal in West Africa has sent over 50 emails to SGM, believing it to be Sunderland A.F.C, to apply to be a footballer at the club

The man, calling himself as “Mr. Fofo”, has written dozens of emails seeking to become a professional footballer and receive a trial at the club, and is now sending them at a rate of one per day, believing that the SGM website and email is in fact the contact for SAFC.

Saying that he would like to start on the U19 side, Mr. Fofo has also said he lived in America and is a “Former US Marine”, stating: “The US Marines made me fly across and tested my abilities for 2 and half months and I believe your Club have the capabilities to do the same.

“I Pray becoming professional footballer and I do guarantee you nothing but honor and good performance in return.”

“Mentally stable Mr Fofo is able to lead the game [is] skilled in defensive plays, including heading and sliding tackles.”

“I would love to visit your campus and would greatly appreciate it if I could sit down with your assistant coach and could take a moment of your time to discuss the company further.”

In addition to SGM, he also repeatedly sends the same email to dozens of other football clubs and contacts in the sport (as visible in the CC column). That includes David Beckham’s official website, Chelsea F.C, Leeds United, Wycombe Wanderers, Motherwell, Wolves, as well as clubs in the MLS.

Attempts to list the email address as spam, as well as to block it, have not stopped the onslaught.
