Steve Bruce in talks to become manager of Jamaica

Former Sunderland and Newcastle manager Steve Bruce is in talks to become the manager of Jamaica’s national football team.

Bruce, who has been out of management since his dismissal from West Bromwich Albion in 2022, is described by the media as a “serious contender” for the Caribbean nation, who’s nickname is “the Reggae Boyz.”

The 63 year old has a mixed legacy on Wearside, where he achieved 13th and 10th placed finishes successively, but nonetheless left a feeling of underachievement given the squad he had at his disposal, coupled with a poor start to the 2011-2012 season.

Despite his Geordie origins, which quickly saw SAFC fans turn on him, it would ironically be at Newcastle where he became truly loathed by fans after almost relegating them, only to be saved by the Saudi takeover and Eddie Howe.
