Suspected Cannabis Farm Uncovered after raid on Hendon Home

Yesterday SGM received reports of a police presence on St. Leonard’s Street, Hendon. Locals speculated on social media comments that a Cannabis Farm was being raided by police.

This is now confirmed to be the case, with officers from Northumbria Police having received information that an address on the street was being used for this purpose.

They attended the scene and searched the property. An investigation has since been launched by officers.

Officers found a numbers of items within the property which they believe to be connected to the supply of the illegal drug.

Northumbria Police confirmed that the property is now being made safe and the equipment found at the address has since been seized.

Photographs from the scene on St Leonard Street today show a house has been boarded up and has been secured.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Yesterday, (Tuesday), police received information that an address on St Leonard Street, in Hendon, Sunderland, was being used as a suspected cannabis farm.

Officers attended the address and found a number of items within the property that connected to the supply of the illegal drug.

“The address is now being made safe and the equipment seized. Enquiries are ongoing.”
