URGENT: Owner issues warning after dog poisoned with “seizures and vomiting” by mushrooms in Farringdon

An owner has issued a warning after her dog was poisoned with “seizures and vomiting” after eating mushrooms in Farringdon.

“Yesterday my dog was rushed into the emergency vets with seizures and vomiting. She had been poisoned according to the vet, most likely by either a mushroom based toxin like mould found on rotten food, but he also said it could have also been an opiate such as methadone or fentanyl.

This was a huge distress not only for my poor dog but also my family as it was touch and go for a while as to whether she’d pull through.

Last week, I had to rush my other dog to the emergency vets after he became very poorly from what the vet said was ingesting cannabis. Two distressing nights worrying over our beloved pets and hit with two huge vet bills to settle.

Prior to both dogs becoming ill, they’d been walked down the path behind Farringdon Academy and between Farringdon and Lakeside Village.

I’ve walked my dogs for years down that path but recently the sheer amount of rotten food, household waste and random other rubbish that has been clearly thrown over the back fences of the houses down that line has significantly increased.

It’s simply disgusting that people feel it’s totally fine to hoy whatever they want over their fence when it could quite easily go into their green/blue bin which is emptied regularly (and for FREE!!!)

If you’re one of the residents in those houses who look after their home, dispose of their rubbish correctly and safely, and respect their community and neighbours then thank you for being a decent human being.

However if you’re one of those absolute mindless mingers who throw waste food, broken plastic and god knows whatever else over their fence to rot and attract vermin and put innocent animals at severe risk of illness and potential death then you need to give your head a serious wobble and hope that it’s never your own dog or child who become ill or even worse god forbid.

This is a warning to any other dog owners to seriously think about walking their dog down that path if they let them off the lead, it’s now too dangerous and simply a health hazard nowadays.

Rant over and I’m off to give my two dogs a hug and thank my lucky stars they’ve come through what could easily have taken their lives.”
