£2000 raised from successful snowdrop trail in Greatham, Hartlepool.

A charity event hosted by volunteers in Greatham Village, Hartlepool, raised £2,000 and attracted around 400 visitors on Sunday.

Greatham in Bloom – a small band of volunteers whose aim is to enhance the village environment through the effective use of flowers, shrubs, and trees, organised the popular snowdrop walk.
The Hall grounds were opened for the day with the permission of the Trustees of the Hospital of God.
A straw-lined path was created through the woods framed with information boards and seating areas provided by the Hospital of God gardeners.

The Greatham in Bloom team, with support from 40+ volunteers, provided refreshments inside Greatham Community Centre.
Volunteers stewarded the afternoon from 1pm-4:30pm.
Visitors from all over the North East attended the event, with some travelling from as far as Northumberland to enjoy the snowdrops in Greatham.

Nancy Pout, Secretary for Greatham in Bloom told Sunderland Global Media “Thanks to the Kindness of everyone involved, Greatham in Bloom are ecstatic to announce that over £2,000 was raised. With all profits to be used to keep Greatham Blooming.”
“To see so many people and families out enjoying nature was truly wonderful. Greatham in Bloom cannot thank everyone enough for their support at the event.”

“An extra special mention needs to be made to Whitfield’s General Stores, Greatham, for their contributions.
“And to Mitch and Terry, the Hospital of God gardeners. Who worked extremely hard to prepare the woods for the visitors.”
Greatham will be entering the Northumbria in Bloom Awards in 2023.
