Role Overview
- Full-time Environmental Enforcement Support Officer role with Sunderland City Council
- 12-month fixed-term contract
- 37 hours per week working a 5-days-over-7 rota including evenings and weekends
- Supports the Community Safety team tackling environmental crime across the city
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to reports of fly-tipping and environmental crime
- Gather evidence and support enforcement investigations
- Carry out enquiries linked to waste and environmental offences
- Work outdoors across the city in all weather conditions
- Operate council vehicles and equipment safely
- Engage with residents and partner organisations to support safer neighbourhoods
Requirements
- Full driving licence with entitlement to drive vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes (Category C1)
- Ability to work a rota including evenings and weekends
- Experience in a public-facing or operational role
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage challenging situations
- Proactive approach to problem solving and community safety
