Tyne and Wear Learning Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Cook/Chef to join the kitchen team at East Herrington Primary Academy in Sunderland.

The successful candidate will help lead the school’s catering provision, preparing fresh, healthy and nutritious meals for pupils while developing appealing menus that encourage children to enjoy healthy eating.

This is an opportunity for someone with a passion for food, creative ideas and the ability to make a positive difference to children’s daily school experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support the school catering team.
• Prepare and serve high-quality meals for pupils.
• Develop varied and appealing menus featuring healthy, nutritious food.
• Ensure meals comply with the Government’s School Food Standards.
• Manage stock control, ordering and daily kitchen operations.
• Introduce creative ideas to improve the school’s catering provision.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain an organised and efficient kitchen service.

Requirements:

• Strong catering knowledge and experience.
• A recognised catering qualification or significant experience leading a catering function.
• The ability to lead and motivate a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive approach and the ability to use initiative.
• Experience managing stock, ordering supplies and running a busy catering service.
• A commitment to providing healthy, nutritious and appealing meals for children.
