Careline Lifestyles is looking for a proactive and responsible Maintenance Operative to join its team at St Stephen’s Court in Benwell, Newcastle. The successful candidate will help keep the care home safe, secure and well-maintained, carrying out inspections, routine repairs and maintenance checks.

Salary: £13.92 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts
Work Location: On Site

About The Role

You will be responsible for maintaining the premises, identifying potential health and safety hazards and ensuring that essential equipment and systems are inspected and kept in good working order.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct daily premises inspections to identify health and safety hazards.
• Maintain electronic maintenance logs and report issues promptly.
• Check lighting and replace bulbs where necessary.
• Keep gardens, yards and fire exit areas tidy, including during poor weather.
• Check and maintain heating and hot water systems.
• Carry out painting and touch-up work.
• Inspect drains and gutters weekly.
• Organise and test fire equipment, hoists, lifts, boilers, air conditioning and other equipment.
• Conduct weekly fire drills and record the results.
• Keep maintenance records up to date.
• Report hazards to the relevant managers and directors.
• Undertake additional reasonable duties as required.

• Willingness to learn and adapt to changing responsibilities.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required as part of the employer’s safeguarding commitment.
