ABOUT THE ROLE

The Kitchen Assistant will support kitchen operations, helping to ensure food preparation and safety standards are maintained.

The role is suited to someone who is passionate about food and interested in developing their culinary skills in a busy kitchen environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist chefs with meal preparation, including chopping, slicing and cooking ingredients as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen.
• Follow food safety guidelines and maintain high hygiene standards.
• Help with catering events by preparing food and assisting with serving when required.
• Check supplies and report shortages as part of inventory management.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Work with team members to support timely meal service during busy periods.

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is advantageous but not essential.
• Enthusiasm for cooking.
• Basic knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to take initiative when needed.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn and develop food preparation and catering skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
