ABOUT THE ROLE
Coarse Restaurant is opening a paint-your-own pottery studio in Durham, where guests can choose, paint and glaze pottery before it is fired for collection.

The Studio Manager will run the venue day to day and help shape the operation from the beginning. The studio will primarily cater for children’s parties but will also welcome adults.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Run the studio floor and welcome walk-in guests, groups, parties and workshops
• Lead painting and glazing sessions
• Advise guests on techniques and finishes
• Load, fire and unload the kiln
• Manage the glaze firing schedule
• Manage stock of bisque ware, paints and glazes
• Handle bookings and takings
• Manage the studio’s social media
• Recruit and train a small team as the business grows
• Keep the studio clean, safe and welcoming

REQUIREMENTS
• Hands-on experience operating an electric kiln, including bisque and glaze firings
• Experience running workshops, classes or group sessions
• Warm, confident personality and strong public-facing skills
• Comfortable working with children and adult groups
• Organised and reliable
• Good understanding of stock and cash handling
• Experience managing or supervising people is advantageous
• Knowledge of ceramic glazes and food-safe finishes is advantageous
