About The Role

Mitie is recruiting a School Caretaker to help maintain a safe, clean and secure school environment at St Peter’s Road in Wallsend.

The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the premises, carry out maintenance and security duties, and help ensure the school meets the required service and safety standards.

The role also requires cover for sickness and holidays, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness, safety and security of school buildings and grounds.
• Keep equipment clean and in safe working order.
• Follow health, safety, environmental and quality policies.
• Respond to helpdesk requests and carry out required tasks.
• Open and lock buildings as required.
• Assist with moving equipment and setting up rooms.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks, including fire alarm tests and emergency lighting checks.
• Support the use of school buildings outside normal hours when required.
• Complete all required training and follow procedures for handling cleaning materials and chemicals.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Previous caretaking experience, although this is preferred rather than essential.
• A reliable, hardworking and professional attitude.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• An honest, self-motivated and determined approach.
• A commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality.
• Willingness to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
