Key Responsibilities

• Support the development of process methodologies and process equipment for emerging technologies
• Develop engineering designs and construct, commission and test novel process and test equipment
• Work with internal stakeholders and external organisations to develop and qualify new processes and products
• Manage development projects and activities
• Support commercial projects and ensure new capabilities align with commercial requirements
• Support R&D commercial and collaborative R&D projects
• Liaise with manufacturing engineers and technicians to manufacture and test prototypes
• Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Production to ensure new processes align with internal processes
• Provide problem-solving support to other departments
• Contribute to the development of next-generation manufacturing processes and technologies

Requirements

• Process knowledge and experience in one or more of the following:
  • Automated welding
  • Fluid/gas control and dispensing
  • Electrical control systems
  • Data acquisition and evaluation
• R&D, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering background
• Around three years’ engineering experience
• Experience with 3D modelling and 2D drawings
• BEng or MEng qualification, or HNC with a high level of relevant experience
• Experience developing new process equipment and procedures
• Experience developing products
• Experience with verification and qualification testing to ISO standards or equivalent
• Strong analytical skills
• Ability to write test reports
• Excellent time-management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
• Confidence to work independently and use initiative
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Good communication skills

About The Role

MTrec Technical is recruiting a Process Engineer on behalf of a leading advanced engineering and manufacturing organisation in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea.

The role is aimed at an experienced R&D, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineer with an interest in process innovation and product development. The successful applicant will contribute to the development of next-generation manufacturing processes, bespoke test equipment and new technologies.

Working in a collaborative, project-driven environment, the Process Engineer will support the development lifecycle from concept and process design through to prototype manufacture, testing and commercialisation.

The position involves developing novel process and test equipment, managing development activities and working with internal and external stakeholders to qualify new processes and products. The successful candidate will also support commercial and collaborative R&D projects and provide engineering problem-solving support to other departments.
