SALARY
£13.00 per hour

JOB TYPE
Permanent, Full-time

HOURS
• Weekly rotas provided in advance
• Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
• Expected to work Boxing Day and New Year

BENEFITS
• 5 weeks’ annual holiday each year, running April to April, excluding December
• Weekly pay every Tuesday
• Annual leave

ABOUT THE ROLE
• Support the kitchen team in preparing and serving high-quality meals
• Maintain a clean and organised kitchen
• Follow food safety and health and safety standards
• Work independently within your kitchen section when required

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with meal preparation and food assembly
• Prepare ingredients and basic dishes for catering functions
• Maintain clean work surfaces, utensils and kitchen equipment
• Store ingredients and supplies correctly to prevent contamination or spoilage
• Assist with serving food during events and service periods
• Follow food safety and health and safety regulations
• Organise stock and notify managers when supplies are running low
• Complete general kitchen organisation and cleaning at the end of shifts

REQUIREMENTS
• Previous experience in a busy kitchen is essential
• Must be competent cooking starters and a selection of main courses independently within your own section
• Experience preparing fresh starters and dishes including pies, handmade Scotch eggs, Parmo and Kievs
• Ability to chop vegetables and prepare salads at a good pace while keeping your section organised
• Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and food preparation
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Team-oriented approach

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• The workplace is not on a bus route
• A driving licence or other reliable means of getting to and from work is required
• The employer states that applicants should be able to reliably commute to Durham DH6 4RJ or plan to relocate before starting
• The role is in person
• The employer states that the menu will be taught to successful candidates to maintain consistency
