Key Responsibilities
- Serve customers efficiently, professionally and courteously
- Provide a high standard of customer service
- Advise guests on products available throughout the venue
- Create a welcoming and positive atmosphere
- Work independently or as part of a team to meet guest needs
- Maintain stock levels and rotate stock to help minimise waste
- Prepare work areas with glassware, ice, condiments and other supplies
- Set up restaurants and private boxes for meals, tea, coffee and refreshments
- Provide food and beverage service
- Serve wine and other drinks from the bar as directed
- Keep work and public areas clean and tidy
- Follow Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines
- Ensure orders are correctly recorded and authorised for billing
- Process orders through tills and obtain payment
- Close tills according to company procedures
- Maintain accurate temperature records and other required paperwork
- Follow licensing policies and procedures
- Handle cash, stock and equipment securely
- Provide information and assistance to customers
- Record and dispose of waste in line with venue procedures and recycling initiatives
- Follow company policies and procedures
- Carry out other reasonable duties according to business requirements

About The Role
Sunderland Greyhound Stadium is recruiting Casual Hospitality Assistants to support its hospitality operations in Sunderland.
The position pays £12 per hour and offers flexible casual work around race days and hospitality functions. Sunderland Greyhound Stadium hosts greyhound racing five days a week, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, as well as hospitality events in its restaurants and private boxes.
The successful candidate will provide friendly and professional service to customers throughout the venue. Duties include preparing restaurants and private boxes, serving meals and refreshments, providing food and beverage service, serving drinks from the bar and ensuring guests receive a high standard of customer care.
The role also includes maintaining stock levels, preparing service areas, processing customer orders and payments, handling cash securely, keeping accurate records and maintaining clean and tidy work areas. Candidates will be expected to follow Health & Safety, COSHH, licensing and company procedures.
This is a casual role, allowing employees to work flexibly around other commitments. Once registered, successful applicants will be contacted in advance about available shifts at race days or hospitality functions. Work opportunities will depend on busy periods and the annual racing calendar.
Hospitality experience is preferred but not essential. The employer is looking for people who are professional, personable, adaptable, confident and committed to providing quality customer service.
