About The Role
The Co-operative Group is looking for a Customer Team Leader to help run its food store in Gateshead. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people and wants to develop their retail leadership skills.
You will lead the team during your shift, support customers and help ensure the store operates efficiently while maintaining high standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day running of the store during your shift.
- Motivate, coach and support colleagues to deliver excellent customer service.
- Work on the shop floor and tills alongside the team.
- Help maintain stock levels, merchandising and stock accuracy.
- Support store performance and relevant HR processes.
- Promote Co-op membership and engage with the local community.
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming and well-stocked store.
What The Employer Is Looking For
Applicants should:
- Have a passion for helping people and leading a team.
- Be flexible and willing to lead by example.
- Have an interest in retail, merchandising or team management.
- Be comfortable working varied shifts.
Previous retail or team management experience is not essential. Applicants must be aged 18 or over to authorise age-restricted sales.
Working Pattern
The role involves varied shifts, which may include:
- Early mornings, with the store opening at 5:00am.
- Afternoon shifts.
- Late evenings, including store closing.
- At least one weekend shift.
The exact working pattern will be discussed at interview.
