New Houghton Tesco to open a month from today, as it seeks to fill remaining vacancies for Christmas staff

The new Houghton-le-spring Tesco store is reportedly set to open one month from today, while it continues its drive to recruit staff.

The new store, located on a site to the north of Newbottle road, has been under construction for over a year now as part of a retail park which will also include a home bargains.

Although the media initially predicted it would be open by “Autumn 2024” its manager has since confirmed the official opening will be 5th December.

In anticipation for this date, there are vacancies for the store still available on the official Tesco careers website.

This includes people to do night shifts as a standard Tesco colleague over the Christmas period, as well as someone to work in the cafe.
