Who is Liam Ellison? The serial Sunderland thief and thug linked to the Cooper Rose glassing

Following the glassing incident that occurred outside of the Cooper Rose on Friday 28th June, many members of the public were very quick to identify who they believe was responsible, and with good reason and strong evidence..

Liam Ellison, 34, has recently completed a brief prison sentence that was imposed on him following an industrial scale shoplifting spree in Sunderland City Centre that saw him formally banned from every single shop. In the process, he headbutted and spat on staff who tried to stop him.

Ellison’s spree was so extensive he was arrested over 167 times. Despite this, a custodial sentence was deemed only a last resort. He was jailed last October for 10 months, but as of July is now back on the streets and seemingly, up to no good again, quickly getting into an extremely violent altercation where he appeared to glass a man in the face.

Ellison was, following this incident, not arrested and according to sources, spent this afternoon in the William Jameson in the City Centre. Other sources tell us he is not living at any fixed address, and sleeping rough around the area.

SGM has contacted Northumbria Police for comment with accompanying evidence regarding the glassing.
